A masters-level clinical intern is a graduate student working toward the attainment of their master's degree, and subsequently state licensure, in Mental Health Counseling. Student interns working with SSCC have been carefully selected, have completed all course work required in their program of study, and are at a place in their degree program where they must obtain the clinical experience required in order to complete their studies and graduate as well as to apply for state licensure as mental health counselors.

Our masters-level clinical interns have extensive training both academically, as well as clinically through the numerous hours of direct observation of therapy sessions our agency first requires them to have before seeing clients themselves.

Our clinical interns work directly under the supervision of our most senior clinicians. Interns are required to receive regular supervision throughout their placement at SSCC which includes a minimum of one hour of individual supervision as well as one hour of group supervision each week. Supervisors are available to interns 24/7 for urgent issues/supervisory needs.

Sessions are approximately 50 minutes each.

The answer is unlimited! 

We do not cap the number of sessions clients may receive through our graduate interns. 

While our masters-level graduate student interns often are only with our agency for  a maximum of three semesters in a row (i.e., 9 months), we allow clients to continue with services however long they may need.

We do this by aligning clients with a new masters-level intern they may continue to receive services through once their original counselor in training has moved on from their placement at our agency.

The rate you pay depends on what you can afford! Through the use of our masters-level graduate student interns we provide pay-what-you-can care for absolutely everyone in need and anyone interested.

Rates are set by consumers during the consultation process and range from $5-$30 per visit.
