Sean Beckett is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) in the state of New Jersey. He received his Master’s degree in Counseling from The College of New Jersey specializing in both
Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Substance Abuse Counseling. Sean is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP). He is also trained in Eye
Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR-T). Seans practice involves working within the realm of trauma, where he strives to help those who have experienced significant life events that have promoted discomforting symptoms within them. Trauma work, in his opinion,
should be specialized to fit the needs of each person individually. Sean also focuses on numerous treatment areas as well, including Alcohol & Substance Use Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorders, Grief & loss, stress management, and more. In Sean's practice, he implements
numerous theories and interventions/techniques to best work with each person. Meaning, therapy may not be a “one size fits all” concept. He primarily subscribes to and practices
Person-Centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Solution-Focused Therapy, Reality/Choice Therapy, and other
empirically supported practices.
Sean strives to uphold cultural humility each day. Specifically, respecting all individuals and their values, beliefs, and opinions. A person’s background and culture highlights the
wonderful qualities about them which deserve to be respected. Sean also strives to continue dismantling the stigma of mental health treatment each day. Struggling with mental health issues
is one that is not only common, but also can be normal and understandable. He believes that the need to talk with another person should not be stigmatized. Therefore, each day he works to promote a non-judgmental, friendly, accepting, and safe space for a person seeking counseling services.
In his free time, Sean enjoys spending free time outdoors, typically visiting various parks and enjoying the weather outdoors. He is also passionate about literature, whether it be reading or writing literature and poetry.
